April Mop, known as April Fools’ Day in English, is commemorated every year on April 1. This is not a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day when people play practical jokes and hoaxes each other where people may be lying or giving jokes to others without being considered guilty. Today marked the hokey-cheats and other jokes to family, enemies, friends and even neighbors with the aim to embarrass the gullible people. In some countries such as the UK and Australia as well as South Africa, the jokes only be made until noon or before noon. Someone who plays a trick after noon is called “April Fool”. But in other places such as Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Russia, the Netherlands, and the United States free jokes played throughout the day.
April Fools’ Day is celebrated in several countries of the world as a moment that is done once a year. Every state, including the celebrated day known as the day of this lie has its tradition in celebrating each and enliven the day. In Italy, France and Belgium of children and adults have a tradition of April Fools’ Day by putting a fish-shaped paper on the backs of others as a gimmick. Then they shouted pesce d’aprile! for the Italian language, poisson d’avril! for French and aprilvis! for the Dutch language that means “April Fish!” in English. In Scotland, the tradition of April Fool’s called Hunt-the-Gowk Day. On that day, the people in this country doing jokes by way of sending a message to the help of people who will be fooled.
In Singapore, April Fool’s Day is not too special commemorated as other countries like USA, UK, France and many more. Unlike other countries which commemorate the day with a variety of strange traditions even disseminated through the mass media. The tradition of April Fool’s Day in Singapore is not as big as the normal states such commemorated in Europe and America. Government does not work directly entered in it. The mass media was not so involved in the celebration of the day lies. Precisely private parties involved. As the tradition of April Fool’s common in some countries that celebrate it, the people in the state of the art is also made jokes and lies in order to commemorate the day.
